What processes do Sherriffs have in place to ensure a safe crane truck hire service is provided?
If when we hire a crane truck in Melbourne there are question marks about the accessibility of the work area or any identifiable hazards a pre-inspection of the site will first be conducted to ensure all stakeholders safety. A site assessment will be conducted and and risks associated with the job are first identified, managed and controlled accordingly. The safety of our operators and all other personnel associated with the work is first priority and if it is deemed that the risk cannot be controlled safely and within compliance guidelines, alternate arrangements are required to be made.
How do I know that my crane truck hire lifting equipment is good to use?
At Sherriffs all of our lifting equipment including slings, lifting chains, shackles, eye bolts, spreader bars and plate lifters are purchased new from credible and compliant lifting suppliers. All of the equipment purchased must be supplied with a current test certificate and each of those certificates are located in the vehicles. Our equipment is regularly tested and certified by a licensed tester and all of our records are updated accordingly. We have a variety of equipment purpose made for specific lifts so that when we hire a crane truck, safety when lifting is top of the list.
How do I know that my crane truck hire operator holds the necessary ticket to perform my job?
Simply ask to see their licence to perform high risk work issued by Worksafe Victoria. For operators operating a crane under 10 tonned metres they may hold the recommended ticket coded CV-10. For those operating a crane over 10 tonned metres they must hold a ticket coded CV. Multiplying what the maximum weight the crane can lift at what reach will give you an indication of what the cranes tonned rated capacity is. If the crane lifts 2.9 tonne at 4.0 metres reach then this is an 11.6 Tonned metre crane.
This ensures we are meeting the safety requirements when we hire our crane trucks and operators throughout Melbourne.
What tickets do operators require in the crane truck hire service industry in Melbourne?
While it is not widely known a recommended ticket is required to operate a truck mounted crane under 10 tonned metres but it is a requirement to hold an over 10 tonned metre vehicle loading crane ticket when operating truck mounted cranes with this capacity. At Sherriffs all of our operators hold the necessary VLC tickets along with their construction induction card (white card) required in the crane truck hire service industry in Melbourne.
